For the sake of argument, let’s speculate on which type of the two most women prefer. And let’s not dilute the argument by allowing an option somewhere in between, like combining Charlie’s looks with Alan’s sensitivity. No, this is an all-or-nothing proposition.

On the face it, neither one comes across as very desirable, considering the wake of deservedly bitter girlfriends and ex-wives. But these are fictional characters, and their entertainment value is enhanced by their relationship failures. It’s hard to say which guy would universally appeal to the female psyche ― Charlie has the bad boy appeal many women find irresistible, while Alan brings out the nurturing side of women who feel they need to fix what they perceive to be broken. Considering that most women have that itch to want to occasionally walk on the wild side, it’s probably safe to say they’ll encounter a Charlie or two in their dating history. The Alan type woman is probably less prominent, so there are likely fewer of them. Still, without some means of scientific survey, it’s all speculation.

And which of the two do you think men would emulate? More than likely most men would claim they relate to Charlie. This may be wishful thinking, but Charlie is more of a man’s man.

The free one is Midsummer’s Eve, a rapidly growing free site that offers many features of the larger, more commercial sites. If you are looking for a personally run, independent dating site, look no further.
