You can get a 1 month sub for around 30 quid, but their 6 month deal is tempting: they offer a guarantee that if you don’t start an ongoing relationship within 6 months, you get another 6 months free. Over a year, this works out at about 6 quid a month! If you do sign up, make sure you fill in their questionnaire – it really is essential for making the most of their ‘matching technology’.

The free one is Midsummer’s Eve, a rapidly growing free site that offers many features of the larger, more commercial sites. If you are looking for a personally run, independent dating site, look no further.

You can sign up to most for free, and do a few local searches to see if there is anyone in your area. We recommend trying a few, and then paying for the one which you like using the most.
